Ohrid is a 55000 inhabitant city in southwest Macedonia. It is the largest city on Lake Ohrid which is well known for itse biodiversity and cultural heritage. The town is rich in monuments and picturesque houses. The city and the lake were accepted as Cultural and Natural World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1980. Ohrid is also notable for once having had 365 churches, one for each day of the year, and has been referred to as a “Jerusalem of the Balkans”.
1st day – Arrival
Landing at Airport according to the flight schedule.
Bus transfer to Ohrid and accommodation of the group.
Upon arrival in Ohrid, check-in to a hotel (4*), dinner and overnight.
2nd day – Ohrid
07:00 – 09:00 – Breakfast
09:00 – Bus transfer to the old town of Ohrid.
09:30 – 13:30 – Guided walking tour of the old town. The tour includes visit of: the Cathedral church St. Sophia, Holy Virgin church, St. Clement church, The Icon Gallery of Ohrid, Antique Theater and some other sites (traditional Ohrid crafts for: pearl making, medieval paper production workshop, woodcarving).
13:30 – 15:30 – Lunch in a national restaurant in Ohrid.
After lunch, bus transfer to the hotel.
15:30 – 19:30 – Free time in Ohrid for individual sightseeing or rest at the hotel.
19:30 – Bus transfer to dinner (in a national restaurant in Ohrid with traditional Ohrid music)
3rd day – St. Naum monastery
08:00 – 09:00 – Breakfast.
10:00 – Boat trip to monastic complex St. Naum.
En-route visit of the famous museum called “The Bay of Bones”, a replica of a pre-historical settlement built on piles above the level of the lake.
12:00 – Arrival at St. Naum monastery and guided tour of the monastic complex. Boat ride on the springs of the river Crn Drim (rowing boats).
13:45 – Lunch at the national restaurant in the area.
15:30 – 17:00 – Return to the boat and sail back to hotel.
19:30 – Dinner in a national restaurant in Ohrid with traditional Ohrid music (bus transfer).
4th day – Rural villages around Ohrid
07:00 – 09:30 – Breakfast and free time
09:30 – Bus transfer to some of the rural villages near Ohrid (Vevchani).
Visit of the famous Vevchani Springs and original watermills.
13:00 – 14:30 – Lunch in a wonderful nature area in restaurant “Via Ignacija”. Traditional folklore dance and music performance during lunch.
15:00 – Bus transfer to the hotel and free time.
18:00 – Bus transfer for dinner.
Walking by the Lake Ohrid on the promenade and its newly constructed recreational part.
Dinner by the lake, with a beatiful panorama of Ohrid in sight, at the Club “Cuba Libre”.
21:30 – Bus transfer to the hotel after dinner.
5th day – Airport transfer
Breakfast and check out.
Transfer to the airport according the flight schedule.
